Embracer Group Is Acquiring IP Rights To The Lord Of The Rings & The Hobbit Literary Works By J.R.R. Tolkien

Embracer Group announced today that it has set the wheels in motion to acquire the IP rights to J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit trilogies, which will see the company acquire The Saul Zaentz Company’s division know was Middle-earth Enterprises.

This division owned a wealth of properties including the worldwide rights to motion pictures, video games, board games, merchandising, theme parks, and stage productions pertaining to the iconic fantasy novels.

In addition to The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, it also includes Middle-earth related literary works authorised by the Tolkien Estate and HarperCollins, which haven’t been explored yet.

Lars Wingefors, Embracer Group’s Founder and CEO, commented:
