Sonic Frontiers “Greatly Exceeded” SEGA’s Estimates, Will Allot Bigger Budgets To Future Projects

Sonic Frontiers might not have hit the ground running for everyone, though in SEGA’s eyes the game is more of a success than it imagined.

In its most recent financial report, during a Q/A period SEGA confirmed that the game had actually “greatly exceeded original estimates.”

Further on it then confirmed that it would be working on more titles like Sonic Frontiers, which likely means a sequel, and that it’ll be putting more money into future projects.

“We expect development costs for new titles to grow even larger in the future. We will strive to ensure solid quality in the development of major titles from our existing franchises.

However, development labour costs will rise due to the impact of the global external environment, and we expect this trend to continue for the foreseeable future.

Since it is necessary to take on these challenges for major titles, we are proceeding with a bigger budget, even from the basic research stage. Therefore, we assume that development costs for future new titles will increase accordingly.”

Great news if you were a fan of Sonic Frontiers, and would like to see SEGA try more games like it in the Sonic franchise.
