Crash Bandicoot’s Original Voice Actor Has Passed Away Aged 61

Brendan O’ Brien, the original voice actor behind Crash Bandicoot in the classic PSOne games, passed away on March 23, 2023 aged 61. While he passed two months ago, it’s only now that the news has been widely circulated among fans.

For those who didn’t play the original games, O’ Brien not only provided the voice for the crate-bashing marsupial hero, but also Dr. Neo Cortez, Dr. N. Gin, Dr. N. Brio, and more.

The original Crash Bandicoot trilogy was released for the PSOne between 1996 – 1998, with Naughty Dog in charge of development duties. These were followed by Crash Team Racing before the franchise shifted production teams, with Naughty Dog going on to work on Jax & Daxter for the PS2 era.

Three years later, Toys for Bob released Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time, and the next entry, Crash Team Rumble, is slated for release in June 2023.
