Sony Reveals PS5 Shipments Have Reached 38.4 Million Worldwide

PS5 shipment have reached 38.4 million units worldwide, Sony Interactive Entertainment announced during its financial results for the three-month period ended March 31, 2023.

The format holder shipped 6.3 million units during the three month-period, which is up 4.3 million year-on-year.

The PS5 was released in November 2020 in the US, UK, and Europe, although the system was hit by major shortages due to a lack of vital manufacturing components brought on by the coronavirus pandemic.

Jim Ryan, President of Sony Interactive Entertainment, revealed earlier this year that the PS5 shortage has ended, which has resulted in a massive spike in sales across the globe. In fact, it’s the first time since launch that the console is readily available, and as such scalpers have had to drastically lower their prices due to increased availability.
