PS5 Sales Up By Five Times Year-On-Year In Europe For March 2023

The latest GSD data has revealed that PS5 sales have continued to rise in major European regions now that Sony’s latest hardware is readily available on the market.

Console hardware sales rose by a massive 67% across selected European regions during March 2023, reaching 570,000 units sold, driven largely by Sony’s latest system.

The PS5 saw a significant increase in sales across regions such as France, Italy, Spain, Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark, Switzerland, and Portugal, with sales up five times in March 2023 compared to the same time last year. This isn’t surprising, seeing as how PS5 had been suffering from large-scale shortages up until earlier this year.

In terms of software, 13.6 million PC and console games were moved during March 2023 in European regions, which represents a 4% drop over the same period in 2022. In total, 39 million titles were sold during the first quarter of the year, with Hogwarts Legacy being the best-selling game of that period.

Resident Evil 4 Remake also continued to perform well, claiming the number one spot for March overall. Its first two week sales were up 149% over Dead Space remake, which launched in January, and 57% up over the Resident Evil 3 remake from 2020.
