Deviation Games’ Budget For Its PS5 Game Is Reportedly Over $50 Million

The budget for Deviation Games‘ debut PS5 title is reportedly over $50 million, according to the LinkedIn profile for Shaun Edwards, who served as Chief Operation Officer with the studio from 2019 — 2021.

As previously reported, Deviation Games has laid off a number of staff members, and Twitter user @bogorad222 claimed that the PS5 game has actually been shelved completely. They state that an unnamed Deviation Games employee revealed to him that Sony had cancelled the title “probably” due to “”cost cutting.”

This should all be taken with a pinch of salt for the time being, as Deviation Games hasn’t even showcased its project yet. However, co-founder Jason Blundell announced in September 2022 that he was leaving the company, so he’s no longer involved in whatever the team has up its sleeves.

Deviation Games is not a first-party Sony development studio, but it is partnering with the PlayStation format holder for its debut project. Back in March of this year, job listings indicated the game could feature solo and co-op modes, and in August 2022 the company had already started motion capture.
