Developer Red Hook Studios has reiterated that it still plans on bringing Darkest Dungeon 2 to consoles, although at this point it’s not ready to share specific platform plans or a release date.
We have a lot of Darkest Dungeon 1 players on console and will definitely be making Darkest Dungeon 2 available on console as well. However, we are not yet ready to confirm specific platforms or dates, beyond confirming that console releases will follow the May 1.0 release.
Darkest Dungeon 2 is currently available on PC via Steam and recently wrapped its first week for version 1.0, welcoming over 230,000 new players in the process. As such, the game has sold over 500,000 copies to date.
Darkest Dungeon 2 takes the form of a roguelike road trip of sorts, where players form a party, equip a stagecoach, and journey across a decaying landscape in an effort to stop the apocalypse. The game employs turn-based combat like the original, but keeps things fresh as stats and rules have been refined and improved.
