Industry analyst Mat Piscatella has revealed that the PS5 was the best-selling hardware in the US for April 2023 in terms of dollar sales, continuing a strong resurgence of sales for the console now that stock shortages are no longer an issue.
Last month, Piscatella revealed that the PS5 sales in the US were tracking ahead of PS4 on a time-aligned basis. Furthermore, in Europe, hardware sales were up by a massive 67% across various regions including France, Italy, and Spain, thanks to the console being readily available.
Sony announced earlier this month that the PS5 has shipped over 38 million units worldwide, and is forecasting an additional 25 million shipments for the next fiscal year.
The PS5 was released in November 2020 in the US, UK, Europe and other major regions, and was plagued by stock shortages for around two years as a result of a shortage of components brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic.
