Mortal Kombat fans have been waiting to hear what exactly the next mainline title in the series will be, and after plenty of rumours and some recent leaks, NetherRealm is now ready to officially talk about its next game – tomorrow, May 18, 2023 at 6am PT / 9am ET / 2pm BST.
A short teaser similar to a previous one released by the official Mortal Kombat account on Twitter just last week seems to further confirm that this next title will indeed be a reboot, as it’s been rumoured.
The rumoured title for this new entry is Mortal Kombat 1, as to differentiate it from 2011’s Mortal Kombat, which was also a series reboot.
However if you weren’t already convinced tomorrow’s reveal will be a reboot title, the caption going along with today’s teaser almost sets it in stone.
“Tomorrow is a new dawn,” is what comes along with the teaser video, showcasing the time of the reveal, which if nothing else, heavily suggests that fans should expect some kind of new beginning for the franchise, while the clock in the video breaks, holding the seconds counter over the 1.
There’s nothing specifically said as to where you can watch the reveal, though best practice would likely be to keep an eye on Mortal Kombat’s socials.
