Square Enix has announced that Final Fantasy XVI has gone gold, which means development on the highly anticipated RPG has now wrapped.
Final Fantasy XVI director Hiroshi Takai recently commented on the PlayStation Blog that he was blown away by the speed of PS5’s SSD, noting how the studio has leveraged the power of Sony’s new console to deliver a truly next-generation Final Fantasy experience.
Earlier this week, Square Enix revealed that Final Fantasy XVI will support two performance modes for PS5, which will focus on resolution and frame rate. Furthermore, according to producer Naoki Yoshida, gamers can expect to put around 70-80 hours into Final Fantasy XVI to achieve 100% completion.
The development team is keeping mum on what game engine is powering the new Final Fantasy title, although have confirmed that it isn’t Luminous or Unreal.
Final Fantasy XVI is pencilled in for release on June 22, 2023 for PS5.
