Guerrilla Games and Sony Interactive Entertainment have announced that Horizon Forbidden West has sold 8.4 million units worldwide since its launch in February 2022 on PS4 & PS5. Furthermore, Horizon as a franchise has now passed 32.7 million sales.
Both studios revealed that “millions more around the world” have discovered the Horizon series through Sony’s services including PlayStation Plus and Play at Home. Jan-Bart van Beek, Guerrilla Games’ Studio Director, commented:
Last of all, I’d like to share that we are so excited that Aloy’s adventures will continue. Her latest mission takes her to the ruins of Los Angeles in Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores, and we can’t wait for you to find out where she’ll go next.
Horizon Forbidden West has received one major expansion so far in the shape of Burning Shores, while a third entry in the series was all but confirmed in a press release announcing the departure of one of its key employees, Angie Smets.
