PlayStation Has Announced The India Hero Project, A New Effort To Fund And Support Indian Indie Developers

PlayStation has announced a new initiative called The India Hero Project, a new effort by PlayStation to help indie developers in India through funding and the support in the way of access to PlayStation developers expertise and resources.

Developers in India who would like to create games for PS5, PS VR2 and PC can apply to be a part of the project, with mobile titles being considered on a “case-by-case basis.”

Otherwise, the only criteria for applying is that you are a game developer based in India, a legal entity in India, and that you are able to be a PlayStation Registered Developer.

It’s important to note that the support from this project will not cover publishing funds, with PlayStation saying “publishing opportunities will be discussed on a case-by-case basis at a later time and will be subject to different criteria.”

“India Hero Project is not just about investing in the Indian game development industry but also helping to cultivate a new generation of game developers who can create innovative and engaging games that will be popular with players worldwide,” program manager Sujith Sukumaran said speaking to GamesIndustry.Biz.
