EA Says Battlefield Will Be A ‘Meaningful Part’ Of The Publisher’s Future

The CEO of Electronic Arts revealed during the publisher’s latest quarterly earnings call that the Battlefield series will remain a “meaningful part” of the company’s future.

Andrew Wilson mentioned taking “ownership and “building […] for the future” of a number of major franchises, including Battlefield, adding “our ability to bring Battlefield back in an entirely new way in the future.” Wilson was later asked during a Q&A how EA is progressing on its projects for Battlefield, to which he responded, “we don’t have any date announcements.” However, he said he has “extraordinary confidence in that team and extraordinary confidence in the progress they’re making against the future of the franchise.”

The executive added that new info will drop when it’s “appropriate” to share it, but assured fans that the Battlefield IP is “firmly implanted” in EA’s strategy: “building games and experiences that attract and entertain massive online communities across platforms, across business models, across geographies. And we think that Battlefield is going to be a meaningful part of our future. And we’ll share more time and share more as time progresses.”
