The latest GfK figures have revealed that PS5 was the top-selling console in the UK for April 2023, although game and hardware sales were down overall.
Just below 111,000 consoles were moved in the UK last month in the UK, which represents a drop of 20% on the previous month but 20% up on the same period last year. Nintendo Switch was the second best-selling console in April 2023, followed by Xbox Series X/S. Sony’s latest home console saw a 35% drop in sales in comparison to March 2023, but are up 15% over April 2022.
PS5 sales have been enjoying a massive surge the past few months thanks to the system no longer being plagued by hardware shortages.
Sony announced during its latest financial call that the PS5 has now shipped over 38 million units worldwide, and is forecasting an additional 25 million shipments for the next fiscal year.
