The Last Of Us HBO’s Craig Mazin Plans To Do More Seasons Beyond Series 2

Craig Mazin, the showrunner behind the critically acclaimed HBO The Last of Us series, has indicated the series will remain on air beyond Season 2, saying there’s still a lot of story to tell.

Right now the series has just wrapped up its first season and it is not expected Season 2 will premiere until at least late 2024, which is going to follow the events of The Last of Us Part 2. Having said that, Mazin previously said that the events of that game will take more than one season to cover.

Speaking during a panel about The Last of Us at NAB in Las Vegas over the weekend, Mazin note that there’s “quite a bit of story to tell,” nothing that “Our plan is to do it not just for one more season. We should be around for a while.”

Previously, Mazin said that he doesn’t feel constrained by the source material in regards to how to handle Joel’s fate in Season 2, so there’s a chance his part in the story may change.

The Last of Us Season 1 is scheduled to launch on physical media in July, and will be available on DVD, Blu-ray, and 4K.
